A peek at last year's BWC showings:
Best of Shows and submitted to the State Convention for further judging were Bev York's counted cross stitch of the Dalmatian puppy, Elaine Davis's bead weaving necklace, Peg Long's (essay or short story?) "77 Seconds," Pat Connolly's essay "How Are You Doing," Elizabeth Johnson's inspirational poetry "My Country Home,",Barbara Chahbazian's pastel chalk drawing of a violin, and a table runner crochetted with little Stars of David by Bea Liner.
Also of great merit were second place winning entries: an apron by Donna Ivicevic with the inspirational story that she made 26 of them for children learning printing in school, and Bea Liner's card collection which she entered in the scrapbooking section of the arts competition.
Barbara Chahbazian also won first prize with her other chalk drawings of a monkey and for another a very big bird that landed on her property.
What a great meeting hearing all about what inspired our members to create these entries that took top awards. Especially touching was Peg Long's "77 Seconds" essay, all about the Challenger crew and what happened to that fateful flight. Peg read it so perfectly it drew tears, if not perhaps to all, at least to many of our eyes at the May meeting.
